Situational Prohibition moves forward
Michigan's state employees can be fired for having a glass of wine at a work-related function. New York City will confiscate your car if you're one sip over the legal limit. And Mothers Against Drunk Driving is demanding a one-drink-per-hour limit on all commercial flights. Prohibition? Worse: situational prohibition.
Recognizing that they won't ever bring back Prohibition with a capital "P," today's anti-alcohol nannies are actively restricting the times and places people can comfortably - and legally - drink adult beverages. And because the anti-drinking campaign is being fought on so many small fronts, few people realize that even responsible consumption is under attack. Fewer still are doing anything about it.
